Presentation Title:Analysis of Bacterial Genomes and Gene Expression at Single-Cell Resolution Biography: Dr. Masahito Hosokawa is an Associate Professor at Waseda University. He is a pioneer in developing microbial single-cell analysis technology, mainly known for developing bit-MAP®, a groundbreaking method for decoding uncultured microbial genomes at the single-cell level. He is also the founder and CSO of bitBiome, Inc., a university-based venture company. His research integrates biology and engineering, focusing on developing innovative biotechnology using single-cell analysis and microbial genetic resources. His laboratory has developed multiple innovative approaches for analyzing complex microbial communities, successfully applying these technologies to various environments, from human microbiomes to soil and marine ecosystems. These achievements have significantly contributed to exploring microbial dark matter and expanding our understanding of uncultured microbes' potential. His pioneering contributions to biotechnology have been recognized with several prestigious national awards in Japan, including the 2022 National Award for University launched Ventures from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the 2019 Young Scientists' Award from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology for his breakthrough achievements in single-cell genomics technology. |
