Presentation Title: Integrative Methods for Spatial Omics Across Samples and Modalities

Biography: Dr. Ying Ma is an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics and the Edens Family Assistant Professor of Healthcare Communications and Technology at Brown University. She is also a core member of the Center for Computational Molecular Biology (CCMB). Dr. Ma received her Ph.D. in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan and joined Brown in 2023. Her research focuses on developing statistical learning and AI methods for high-dimensional genomics and genetics, especially single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, and clinical informatics. Her work is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIGMS), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and the American Cancer Society (ACSIRG). She has published as first or corresponding author in leading journals and conferences, including Nature Biotechnology, Nature Methods, Nature Communications, American Journal of Human Genetics, Trends in Genetics, Nucleic Acids Research, and NeurIPS. The Ma Lab develops rigorous statistical and AI frameworks for spatial and single-cell data and collaborates widely across genomics, cancer biology, and computational science. We value creativity, methodological rigor, and supportive mentorship, with a strong emphasis on building publication records and preparing trainees for successful careers in academia or industry.
